White on White.........Page 14

I just finished watering
and headed out to pick up the mail.
I found my mail carrier had kindly carried it to the front porch.
A wonderful surprise was waiting to be opened.
A note from a very dear longtime friend
and a book I will devour for many hours,
over and over again.
Being inspired by words and beauty beyond beauty.
I have my coffee
and my new book is ready to open.
Oohing and Ahaing...
Just what I love to do.
Ideas and memories start popping immediately.
What did I just tell my students this past week....
just how beautiful white on white could be.
The very second article in this book is titled
White On White.......page 14
I had to read this first.
Just remember there is nothing you cannot do
if you have the desire to reach, work and then enjoy.
Some things may look hard and seem impossible.
That is the time to reach.
Whites can take on beautiful tints and accents.
Remember using a good balance of temperature.
Can't you just see with your minds eye the soft greens,
beiges, mauves and pinks.
And the list goes on.
Bright whites, dull whites, aged whites, mellow whites, gray whites
warms and cools all around us.
I can hear my dear dear friend say....
"Mary Jo, here we are painting another one of those white flowers
that isn't white"
Isn't it wonderful the subtle colors that emerge from
the tints and accents and the dark shadows that set up a beautiful white.
Without them our whites are lost.
White on White..... page14

Thank you Aileen for the inspiration and precious memories
